Drama is an important part of our school life and we have a reputation for excellence in performing arts. Girls have the opportunity to perform regularly in front of their peers and parents, and to perform in the local community. Even our Nursery pupils at age 3 present an assembly to the whole school.

The discipline of having to learn lines and working as part of a team are all valuable skills for young people to learn. The fun and excitement your daughter will experience will remain with her for many years.

The performing arts develop self-esteem and confidence and provide variety and breadth so each girl has the chance to get involved. Our aim is to give your daughter a chance to take part and, if she is particularly keen, the opportunity to develop her talent further.

The standard of drama is extremely high: we encourage excellence but we also encourage girls just to participate. Class drama lessons are part of the timetable from Nursery upwards, and optional individual lessons are available in Years 3-6 in preparation for English Speaking Board exams.

One of the highlights of the school calendar for the girls is the large-scale drama production for Year 6. For the rest of the school there are plenty of opportunities to perform, such as in the Christmas productions and inter-house drama competitions. Every year group, from Nursery upwards, takes part in class assemblies and parents are invited to come in and watch. Our girls have the opportunity to perform in the School's state-of-the-art Countess of Wessex theatre which has a seating capacity of 300.

In 2012 Kent College opened its' Theatre Academy which is open to girls and boys.  The Junior Academy is for pupils from Reception to Year 4 and the Senior Academy is for pupils in Years 5 and above.
