Nursery Admissions Process
Generally girls join the nursery class at two and a half in the term that they turn 3.
Girls joining in September need to attend a minimum of three sessions (one session = either morning or afternoon attendance) a week, but have the opportunity of signing up for as many sessions as they wish. For some girls this may mean that they attend full-time. In addition, nursery girls can attend Breakfast Club and After School Care.
The sessions available for these girls entering at the spring and summer terms will be dependent on numbers in our current nursery class. At present the sessions are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Admissions in other year groups
Girls can enter the Nursery class in the term of their third birthday. Attendance is flexible in the Nursery class as the girls get used to their new environment and settle in. During the year they are expected to increase the number of sessions they attend so that by the time they enter the Reception class they are attending full time. Pupils join the Reception class in the September after their fourth birthday.
For entry into Nursery, Reception and Years 1 and 2, places are awarded according to availability and there are no entrance tests. The School operates a registrations’ list and we recommend that parents register their daughter in advance to ensure a place is available.
Girls wishing to join Years 3-6 are required to attend a Taster Day and, during their visit, sit tests in English and mathematics. Places are then offered on the basis of performance in these tests. Prospective boarders are invited for a Taster Day and overnight stay to give them a feel for the boarding community.
We hold whole school Open Mornings in October, February and April and Early Years Open Mornings in January and May where prospective girls and their parents are invited to come and see the school and to meet the pupils and staff. Click here to book for an upcoming Open Morning.
In addition, the Head is very happy to see parents on an individual basis when you can have a look around the school, meet the staff and pupils, and discuss your daughter's education.
